If you do have to park further away, there are shuttles that take you from your car though so that's not an issue. We were able to park in the car park nearest the tram station which was good.

We booked on to the 10am tram on a Sunday morning so it was pretty quiet in the car park when we arrived. If you have neck or back problems, the ride is gentle and should not cause any discomfort. If you have any problems with heights, this is not the attraction for you. We had a pretzel with cheese and a couple of locally brewed beers. The Cascades Cafe is at the Valley station (bottom) and was open when we came down about 11:00am. Peaks Restaurant Lunch 11:00am-4:00pm, dinner 5:pm-7:30 (last seating). The hours for the Pines Cafe are listed as 10:0am-8:30pm Monday-Friday and 800am-8:30pm Saturday-Sunday. The bar, restaurant and cafe at the Mountain Station (top) were all closed while we were there but the cafe should have been open. There are Winter and Summer hours for the tram, so check their website for the dates you visit. The floor rotates so everybody sees all the views. The tram does sway a bit when going by the towers, especially tower three. There was still snow at the top on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

The windows are open to allow for air flow since you are in close quarters. There was one person ahead of us for tickets so we did not have a wait. When we were leaving the station about 11:30/12 noon there was a huge line out the door so even though it was MLK holiday On a Monday I’d recommend get up early to go to beat the long wait in line. It’s a steep and winding path but benches along the way make it doable. At top of tram station mountain walkway is concrete with railings. Lockers to store items if you plan to spend several hours. Top of the park is a bar, a sit down restaurant which may not be open during Covid and little walk up cafe you can get soup, chile, nachos, fries and coffee and bottled beverages. Rotating car and you see all views on the way up and down. Anyone with fear of heights may not want to do it but consider it’s a very sturdy car ride and you can stand in the middle of the tram car and just look straight out. Steep walk up from middle of parking lot A but my 81 year old mom was able to do it and there are plenty of places to sit and rest for those who need it. We didn't get our tickets in advance and if we purchased on-site, the average wait time was about 2 hours. BUT, don't get discouraged if the site shows they are sold out: they never turn people away. Tip: Recommend purchasing tickets in advance. This seems to be a definite "thing to do" in the Palm Springs area. We can't wait until we're ready the next time we're in the area. At the top, there is a restaurant and several hiking trails, so you could conceivably spend several hours up there, or shorter if you want. The tram will take you up pretty high, so some people with altitude sickness or are susceptible to it may need to check if this will be ok. There is also a gift shop with a myriad of items. There is a very small museum/historical display about the creation of the site. You can park, leave, and return, if your wait times are very long.Īt the base, there is a small snack/lunch bar and several places to sit and eat while you wait.

They have several parking lots (for a fee), and there's a free tram that takes you from each parking lot to the base center about every 10 minutes or so. Had planned to go up for our first time, but we weren't quite ready as we didn't realize how far up it actually went.įrom Palm Desert - a solid 30-35 minute drive.
